This serene shore scene of Bowman's Beach on Sanibel Island in Florida belies the storm that hit just the day before. A series of severe thunderstorms hit the island including a tornado that struck neighboring Cape Coral. With Sanibel Island known worldwide for its incredible shelling, Shirley Kathan-Sayess and a friend drove to the beach at the crack of dawn the next morning to see what the ocean might have tossed up. Along with the shells, they saw these shorebirds hunting for food.
